This cemetery was first known as the Red Oak Grove Cemetery. The 160 acres was first donated by the United States government and the deed was signed by Abraham Lincoln to Amon Webster, a soldier of the war of 1812. The deed was signed May 10, 1861. On Nov. 25, 1892, this land was donated for a cemetery to Mahlon Jones*, a member of the cemetery association. It was donated by Lafayette and Mary French, and A.W. and Agnes Wright. Other than the abstract, there has been no record of ownership located for this cemetery. All research for this was done by Peder and Jean Legried. A special thanks to all who help maintain this cemetery: Milton and Lillian Flynn and his boy Scout Troop, Thomas Forstner, Nellie Wynia, the Moscow Town Board, and the people of Moscow township.
