CHRISTINE BERGMAN Northfield News: Friday, March 29, 1929 Mrs. Christine Bergman, for many years a resident of Northfield, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ole Melde, Wednesday evening following a short illness of pneumonia. Funeral arrangements had not been made late Thursday afternoon pending word from another daughter, Mrs. G. R. Fryer, at Seattle. MRS. CHRISTINE BERGMAN Northfield News: Friday, April 5, 1929 Mrs. Christine Bergman, for sixteen years a resident of Northfield, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ole Melde, Wednesday evening, March 27, following a short illness of pneumonia and complications. The funeral was held in St. John's Lutheran church Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, the Rev. L. M. Stavig officiating. During the service Mrs. Gertrude Boe Overby sang "Rock of Ages," "In Heaven Above," and "Abide with Me." The pallbearers were John Larson, Jr., J. Jorgen Thompson, Albert Olberg and John Rahmann. Burial was made in the Northfield Cemetery. Christine Hanson was born in Red Wing February 11, 1876. She spent her girlhood and young womanhood in the Red Wing community and in June, 1894, she was married to Ole Noreen. To this union were born four children. Mrs. Ole Melde, Mrs. G. R. Fryer, Mildred Noreen and John Noreen. Mr. Noreen died in 1904, and three years later she was married to John Bergman of Red Wing. Two children were born to this union. Carl and Violet Bergman. Since the death of Mr. Bergman several years ago, Mrs. Bergman had made her home in Northfield. Besides her immediate family, Mrs. Bergman is survived by two sisters, Mrs. George Wigdahl of Watertown, S. D., and Mrs. Ida Johnson of Wastedo, and two brothers, A. N. Johnson of Haiti, S. D., and Emil Johnson of Minneapolis. Relatives and friends from a distance who attended the funeral were Mrs. G. R. Fryer, Seattle, Wash., Miss Mildred Noreen, White Rock; Mrs. George Wigdahl, Watertown, S. D.; Emil Hanson, Mrs. Arthur Rahmann and son, Mrs. Roy Knaublach and Miss Mildred Johnson, Minneapolis; Mrs. Walter Holmes, St. Paul; Peter Noreen, Cambridge; Mr. and Mrs. B.C. Peterson, Mrs. Fred Swanson, Mrs. John Benson, Cannon Falls; Mrs. Alfred Johnson, White Rock; and Miss Marion Johnson of Wastedo. During her residence in Northfield Mrs. Bergman had been a member of St. John's church and the many beautiful flowers at the funeral were evidence of the high esteem in which she was held by those who knew her best. MRS. CHRISTINE BERGMAN (unknown source) Mrs. Christine Bergman, a resident of Northfield for 16 years, died Wednesday evening, Mar. 27, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. O.A. Melde; after a week's illness of pneumonia and complications. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, Apr. 1, at the Melde home and at St. John's Lutheran church. Rev. L. M. Stavig officiated. Mrs. Gertrude Boe Overby sang three songs, "Rock of Ages," "In Heaven Above", and "Abide With Me." The pallbearers were John Larson, Jr., J. H. Rahmann, Prof. J. J. Thompson, and Albert Olberg. Burial was made in the Northfield cemetery. The many beautiful flowers at the funeral showed the regard held for Mrs. Bergman by many friends. Christine Hanson was born in Red Wing Feb 11, 1876. She lived there most of her life until 16 years ago when she came to Northfield to make her home. She was married in June 1894, to Ole Noreen of Red Wing. Mr. Noreen died 26 years ago. In June, 1907, Mrs. Noreen was married to John Bergman, who proceeded her in death 14 years ago. Four daughters and two sons survive their mother. They are Mrs. O. A. Melde of Northfield, Mrs. G. R. Fryer of Seattle, Wash., Miss Mildred Noreen of White Rock, John Noreen, and Carl and Violet Bergman of Northfield. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. George Wigdahl of Watertown, S. D., and Mrs. Ida Johnson of Wastedo, and two brothers, A. M. Johnson of Hayti, S. D., and Emil Hanson of Minneapolis. There are five grandchildren. All of Mrs. Bergman's children were present for the funeral. Mrs. Bergman had been a member of St. John's Lutheran church for 13 years.Out-of-town people at the funeral Mrs. G. R.
