FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Velma Wilson Hansen Submitted: November 2003 ========================================================================= Red Wing Republican Eagle, Friday, Aug 10, 1923 FORMER RESIDENT IS SUMMONED Mrs. Mathilda Bruber-Johnson, formerly of Red Wing passed away this morning at six o'clock at St. Lukes hospital, St. Paul. Death was due to cancer, from which she suffered for the past year. Mathilda Bruber was 65 years of age, having been born in Red Wing on November 29, 1857. She was united in marriage to Frank Johnson and the family resided in this city until about twenty years ago when they moved to St. Paul. During their residence here, they conducted the Svea hotel and Mr. Johnson was also a stone mason by trade. Mr. Johnson passed away about seven years ago. Mrs. Johnson was a generous hearted, Christian woman whose passing will be mourned by a large circle of friends. The following children are left to mourn the loss of their mother: Mrs. Francis Loomis, Mrs. Stella Kirk, St. Paul; Mrs., Myrtle Keith, Minneapolis; Mrs. Millie Duvall, Chicago; Arthur and Leonard Johnson of St Paul; also two brothers, Victor and Theodore Bruber and one sister Mrs. L. J. Lundgren, the last three of Minneapolis. Funeral services will be conducted at the residence of Mrs. Loomis, 263 Smith Ave. North on August 11 at 1:30 p.m. after which the body will be brought to Red Wing for burial at Oakwood cemetery where brief services will be conducted at about 4:30 o'clock.
