DOOR - Vol II, pg 766-767 One of the prominent attorneys of Minneapolis is Lester A. Door, who specializes in insurance law and likewise enjoys an extensive and representative general clientele. He was born in Mankato, Minnesota, a son of Norman and Ellen (Clausen) Door. The Door family originally resided in Vermont. At the time of the Indian outbreak of 1872 his mother was but an infant, six months old. She and her mother were captured by the Indians, the father having been killed, and they were held until the treaty was signed. In the acquirement of his early education Lester A. Door attended the grade schools of Mankato and in due time was graduated from high school. He then enrolled in the University of Minnesota, from which institution he was graduated with the A. B. degree in 1912 and the LL. B. degree in 1920. For two years before entering the law depart­ment of the institution Mr. Door was principal of high schools in Minnesota. He was admitted to the bar in the year he received his degree and he practiced with great success until 1917, when he put all personal interests aside and enlisted for service in the World war. In October of that year he enlisted in the Twenty-first Infantry, Eighty-ninth Regiment and for a time was stationed at Hoboken, New Jersey. Subsequently he was sent to Washington, D. C., and from there to Camp Raritan, New Jersey, on the Raritan river. He was assigned to title work, examining abstracts, etc., and he was thus active until September, 1920, when he received his honorable discharge. He at once returned to Minneapolis and resumed the practice of law. He has won a place for himself among the leading attorneys of this city and well merits the success he has achieved. He is legal adviser for several insurance companies and he likewise enjoys an extensive and important general clientele. Politically Mr. Door is a republican and although he has never sought nor desired public preferment he is essentially public-spirited and is active in the furtherance of every movement for the benefit of the community. His religious faith is evidenced by his membership in Hennepin Avenue Methodist church. Fraternally Mr. Door is affiliated with the Masons and the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks. He is an active member of the Minneapolis Civic & Commerce Association and of the local post of the American Legion. Mr. Door is an enthusiastic athlete. While in the university he was a member of the track team and was a winner in several half-mile events. He is a skilled tennis player and is likewise interested in golf. He is a man of genial and pleasing personality and enjoys the confidence and esteem of all with whom he has come into contact.
