DYAR - Vol II, pg 386-389 Edgar M. Dyar, president of the Midwest Oil Company, is one of Minneapolis most substantial business men. A native of Iowa, his birth occurred on the 11th of May, 1879, at Glenwood, a son of C. H. and Alice (Martin) Dyar, the former a native of Ohio and the latter of Indiana. Both the Dyar family and the Martin family have lived in America for many generations and have been influential citizens in the communities in which they have resided. Edgar M. Dyar received his education in the public schools of his native state. Soon after putting his textbooks aside he engaged in the oil business and he has been in this business since. In 1901 Mr. Dyar came to Minneapolis and formed the Western Oil Company. Later on that company was consolidated with the Climax Refining Com-pany of this city, under the name of The Western Oil Company. In 1919 Mr. Dyar organized the Midwest Oil Company, of which he is the president. This company is a marketing organization, handling petroleum and its products. Its trade covers the Northwest and its products are marketed under its well known trade-marks of "Avio" and "Ace High." On the 16th of December, 1907, occurred the marriage of Mr. Dyar to Miss Pris-cilla Bradford of Lake City, Minnesota, and to their union one son has been born, Robert Bradford. Mrs. Dyar is a woman of much culture and refinement and is socially prominent. Politically Mr. Dyar gives his allegiance to the republican party, having firm belief in the principles of that party as factors in good government. His religious faith is that of the Episcopal church, his membership being in St. Luke's. Fraternally he is identified with the Masons, holding membership in Ark Lodge, F. & A. M. He is likewise a member of Minneapolis Lodge No. 44, Benevolent Protective Order of Elks. Although the greater part of his time is devoted to his business he is appreciative of the social amenities of life and to- that end is connected with the Athletic, Lincoln, Automobile, and Golden Valley Golf clubs.
