EINHORN (Herbert A. Einhorn) - Vol II, pg 618 Prominent among the business men of Minneapolis is H. A. Einhorn, president of the Builders Sideboard Company, the only enterprise of its kind in the northwest. He was born in Winona, Minnesota, in 1874, a son of Michael and Barbara (Kro'udwich) Einhorn. They were natives of Germany and came to this country with their parents when children, locating in Illinois. After their marriage they continued to reside in that state for a time but later came to Minnesota and settled at Winona. There the father followed building contracting and farming until his demise. The public schools of Winona afforded H. A. Einhorn his early education and after putting his textbooks aside he learned the carpenter's trade, which he followed for several years. In 1896 he came to Minneapolis and made his initial step as a cabinet worker. He was active in that connection six years and in 1902 organized the Builders Sideboard Company, of which he is president. The first plant was located at Sixth street and First avenue, North. In 1905, however, the plant was moved to the present site at 115 Fifth street, Northeast. When Mr. Einhorn started in the business he conducted it on a small scale and its growth has been remarkable. He now employs from seventy-five to one hundred men in the plant and provides them with the best of working conditions, thereby promoting their efficiency. The plant specializes in built-in features for present-day homes and is the only concern of its kind in the Northwest. Mr. Einhorn possesses untiring energy, is quick of perception, forms his plans readily and is determined in their execution, and his close application to business and his excellent management have brought to him the high degree of prosperity which is his today. In Winona, in 1897, was celebrated the marriage of Mr. Einhorn and Miss Katie Mahl, a daughter of Fred Mahl and a member of one of the oldest families in this section of the state. To their union two children have been born: Genevieve and Jerome. In his political views Mr. Einhorn is a republican, having firm belief in the principles of that party as factors in good government. He is a consistent communicant of the Catholic church and along the line of his work holds membership in the Manufacturers Club and the Woodworkers Association. The greater part of Mr. Einhorn's time and attention is given to his business. He is fond of motoring and has taken many long tours throughout the country.
