Marion Daniel Shutter, D.D., LL.D.; Volume I - Shutter (Historical); volume II - Biographical; volume III - Biographical WALTER H. HENNESSEY - Vol II, pg 337 Through a period of nine years Walter H. Hennessey has been identified with the Minnesota bar and his course has been marked by that steady progress which indicates the development of individual power and capacity, his record reflecting credit upon the state of which he is a native son. His birth occurred in Minneapolis and at the usual age he became a pupil in the Clinton school on Twenty-eighth street. Through successive grades he mastered the branches of learning that constituted the public school curriculum and then entered the University of Minnesota as a night student in the law school. He thus utilized his leisure hours in his preparation for a professional career while busily employed in the day time. He was graduated with the class of 1912 and won admission to the bar the following year upon successfully passing the required examination. He at once began practice and, while advancement in the law is proverbially slow, he has steadily progressed, utilizing his powers to the utmost in the conduct of a general practice which has grown steadily in volume and importance as the years have passed. He is a zealous and enthusiastic representative of his profession and is acknowledged both a strong pleader and safe counselor.
