HESSIAN - Vol II, pg 788, 789 Minnesota is proud to number among her native sons Maurice A. Hessian, a prominent attorney of Minneapolis. His birth occurred at Le Sueur, on the 29th of September, 1888, a son of Thomas and Agnes (Barrett) Hessian. Thomas Hessian is a Kentuckian by birth and has practiced law for some forty-seven years in Le Sueur. His wife is a native of that place. In the acquirement of his early educational training Maurice A. Hessian attended the grade and high schools of Le Sueur and subsequently enrolled in St. Thomas College at St. Paul. In early life he determined to adopt the legal profession and in 1908 entered the legal department of the University of Minnesota, from which institution he was graduated in 1911. He was admitted to the bar in June of that year and immediately started in to practice. Mr. Hessian had come to Minneapolis in 1907 and has since resided here. He is a member of the well known legal firm of Thompson, Hessian & Fletcher and has attained an enviable position among the foremost attorneys of the Minneapolis bar. He specializes in corporation law, but is also a trial lawyer of note. On the 4th of June, 1919, was celebrated the marriage of Mr. Hessian to Miss Helen Peterson and to their union three children have been born: Maurice A., Jr.; Katherine Elizabeth and Mary Helen. Mrs. Hessian is a woman of much culture and refinement and she is a leader in the club and social life of the city. Mr. Hessian is a progressive republican and he takes a very active interest in public affairs, although he has never sought nor desired public preferment. Fraternally he is identified with Phi Kappa Sigma, a national college organization of high standing, and as a public-spirited citizen he is an active contributor to the Civic & Commerce Association. Mr. Hessian is likewise associated with the Minneapolis Athletic, Lincoln and Automobile clubs. Mr. and Mrs. Hessian own a beautiful home at No. 5050 Colfax avenue, South, and extend the warmest hospitality to their large circles of friends.
