Hokenson is well known in financial circles as president and treasurer of the American Security Investment Company. He is essentially a self-made man and enjoys the confidence and esteem of all with whom he comes into contact. He was born at Big Lake, Minnesota, on the 5th of July, 1881. In the pursuit of his education H. M. Hokenson attended the public schools of his birthplace and in due time was graduated from the Normal School. He then engaged In teaching for a short time but his inclinations were toward a financial career and subsequently he took up banking. He clerked in two county banks and then accepted a position in the Scandinavian American Bank in Minneapolis, from which institution he went to the Northwestern National Bank. During all that time he paid strict attention to the thing at hand and took advantage of every opportunity to become thoroughly familiar with every phase of the business. Later he determined to start out on his own account and formed the firm of Hokenson Brothers, which in 1910 became the American Security Investment Company, of which Mr. Hokenson is president and treasurer. He has proved to be a very shrewd and capable business man and his business dealings have ever been characterized by the strictest principles of integrity and honor. Mr. Hokenson is also president and treasurer of the American Holding Company, which is a rental corporation. In 1908 was celebrated the marriage of Mr. Hokenson and Miss Marie Swanson. To their union four children have been born: Goldie, Alpha, Dwight and Priscilla. The religious faith of the family is manifest in their membership in the Free Mission church. Mr. Hokenson is a member of the Odin Club, the Minneapolis Real Estate Board and the National Association of Real Estate Boards. Mr. Hokenson is very public-spirited and although the greater part of his time and attention is devoted to his many business interests, he is never too busy to give his aid in the furtherance of any movement for the benefit of the community at large. He owns a fine residence in St. Louis Park, one of the aristocratic residential sections of this city, and there he and his wife entertain their many friends.
