JONES For many years Ted T. Jones, president and sole proprietor of the T. T. Jones Lumber Company, has been prominent in the lumber circles of the Northwest. A native of Wisconsin, his birth occurred in Manitowoc, on the 15th of February, 1880, a son of Frank D. and Lucy C. (Shove) Jones, likewise natives of that state. His paternal grandfather, Evan. Jones, was born in Wales and came to the United States in the early part of the nineteenth century. In the acquirement of his early education Ted T. Jones attended the public schools of his birthplace and after graduating from high school entered the St. John's Military Academy at Delafield, Wisconsin. He was graduated from that school with the class of 1898 and then became a student at the University of Wisconsin for three years. During his high school and college days he was active in athletics and was at one time captain of the baseball team and a member of the football team. Upon the completion of his education Ted T. Jones became a stockholder and director in the G. W. Jones Lumber Company, with which concern he was actively identified for ten years and in which he is still interested. He then associated himself with the Webster Lumber Company of Minneapolis, being connected with that firm for the next ten years. He became thoroughly familiar with every phase of the lumber business during those twenty years and in 1922 he organized the T. T. Jones Lumber Company, of which he is president and sole proprietor. Aside from his executive duties in connection with this enterprise he is a member of the Northwestern Hardwood Lumber Association, of which he has been president and vice president; he is president of the Northern Whole­sale Hardwood Lumber Association and a member of the committee on rules of this association. He is likewise state counsellor for the Hoo Hoos, a lumbermen's national organization. On the 10th of September, 1912, occurred the marriage of Mr. Jones to Miss Marian Thwing, a niece of Charles Thwing. To their union three children have been born: Marian Elizabeth, Ted T., Jr., and Frank Thwing. Mrs. Jones is socially prominent. Politically Mr. Jones is a strict adherent of the republican party and the principles for which it stands. Fraternally he is a thirty-second degree Mason; a member of Manitowoc Lodge, F. & A. M.; Minneapolis Consistory and Zuhrah Temple of the Mystic Shrine. During his college days he became affiliated with Psi Upsilon, a national college fraternity (social) of high standing. He is identified with the Minneapolis Athletic Club, the Interlachen Country Club and the Long Meadow Gun Club. Mr. Jones is public-spirited and is liberal to all worthy agencies at work for the good of his community.
