D. S. One of the most public-spirited and progressive citizens of Minneapolis is Dr. Nils Juell. He was born in Norway, where he received his early literary education and emigrated to the United States in 1903. Upon arriving in this country he determined upon the dental profession as his life work, with the result that he enrolled in the Indiana Dental College, from which institution he was graduated with the D. D. S. degree in 1907. He began practice in north Minneapolis, where he remained for eight years and then established offices in the Masonic Temple building, where he practiced five years. He removed to his present office, No. 933 Metropolitan Bank building, on the 1st of April, 1922. Dr. Juell has become one of the leading dentists in Minneapolis and well merits the success he enjoys. Although a great deal of his spare time is spent in the further study of his profession, since taking up residence in Minneapolis he has wielded a great influence for good in the furtherance of the public welfare. From 1911 to 1920 he was active as a director in the North Side Commercial Club and he was secretary of the Twentieth Avenue Publicity Club, 1912-13. He has been actively interested in Boy Scout work since 1911 and since 1917 has been a member of the executive board of that organization. He is a member of the advisory board of the Salvation Army; is serving as a member of the Minneapolis board of education, to which position he was elected in 1918, his term of service to expire in 1925, and he is chairman of the building and health committees of that board. Dr. Juell is particularly noted for his unceasing work in getting established a school for crippled children. He originated the idea and pushed it so strongly and so tirelessly that others joined him and the project was carried through to the complete satisfaction of all concerned. On the 17th of May, 1907, occurred the marriage of Dr. Juell to Miss Asta Hoist and to their union three children have been born: Asta, Edith and Jean. The political allegiance of Dr. Juell is given to the republican party and the principles for which it stands. Fraternally he is a thirty-second degree Mason and holds membership in Minnesota Lodge, No. 324, F. & A. M.; Minneapolis Consistory, No. 1; and Zuhrah Temple of the Mystic Shrine. Socially he is identified with the Athletic and Odin clubs and he holds membership in the Calhoun and North Side Commercial clubs. Dr. Juell is prominent in the dental circles of this city and was the organizer of the North Side Dental Society, of which body he was second president. His genial and pleasing personality have won for him many friends and he is held in high esteem by all who know him.
