D. For a period of eleven years Dr. Claude Clement Kennedy has engaged in the practice of surgery in Minneapolis and the exercise of his skill and ability has led to the growth of his powers until his position is a most creditable one. He is a native son of this city, born November 28, 1884, his parents being William T. and Anna E. (Shaw) Kennedy. The father's birth occurred in Nova Scotia, while the mother is a native of Pennsylvania, both being of Scotch descent. The mother's ancestral line is traced back to Daniel Shaw, who came to the new world on the Mayflower. Representatives of the family have since figured prominently in various sections of the country in which they have lived. It was in the year 1880 that William T. Kennedy brought his family to Minneapolis and here he engaged in business as a sawmill operator and lumberman. He and his wife afterward removed to Wenatchee, Washington, where they now reside. Claude Clement Kennedy was educated in the public schools of Minneapolis and pursued his professional training in Marquette University at Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he was graduated with the M. D. degree in 1911. He then returned to Minneapolis, where he began practice in the same year, and here he has continued throughout the intervening period. He is serving on the Swedish Hospital surgical staff and he has won a large private practice which makes heavy demands upon his time and energies. He is keenly interested in everything that tends to bring to man the key to the complex mystery which we call life and has carried his investigations far and wide into the realm of medical and surgical science. On the 29th of June, 1915, Dr. Kennedy was married to Miss Edythe Tennyson of this city and they have one daughter, Jane Ann. Dr. Kennedy belongs to the Minneapolis Automobile Club and along strictly professional lines is connected with the Hennepin County Medical Society, the Minnesota State Medical Society and the American Medical Association. His forcefulness and capability are widely recognized among his fellow members, of the profession, who speak of him in terms of warm regard.
