KOVARIK One of the estimable young business men of Minneapolis is Frank J. Kovarik, organizer and owner of the Excelsior Milling Company. A native of New Prague, Minnesota, his birth occurred on the 28th of October, 1886, and he is a son of Mathias and Anna (Kotrich) Kovarik, both natives of Czecho-Slovakia, formerly Bohemia. Frank J. Kovarik attended the parochial schools of New Prague. Then for one year he attended the Minnesota School of Business, and after putting his textbooks aside accepted a position as stenographer in the milling office at New Prague. Ho was active in that capacity for ten years and during that time he took advantage of every opportunity offered him to become familiar with the business. He then came to Minneapolis and for two years worked in the offices of the Washburn-Crosby Company. In 1921 he determined to enter the milling business on his own account and organized the Excelsior Milling Company, of which he is sole owner and manager. His keen business foresight, innate ability and laudable ambition have been dominant factors in his continued success. The highest principles of honesty and integrity have governed him in all transactions and no man stands higher in this community. On the 12th of April, 1921, in Minneapolis, occurred the marriage of Frank J. Kovarik and Miss Helen Gleason, a daughter of T. J. Gleason. Mrs. Kovarik is a woman of charming personality and is socially prominent. Since attaining his majority Frank J. Kovarik has been a stanch supporter of the republican party and the principles for which it stands. He has never sought nor desired public office, though he has been active in party affairs. He is a consistent communicant of the Catholic church. During the World war Mr. Kovarik was a tireless and energetic worker, giving generously of his time and money in the furtherance of the government's interests and he wielded much influence with his countrymen. The success he is now enjoying is but a stepping stone to greater success.
