He was born in Garrison, Iowa, on December 19, 1880, and is the son of Robert and Harriet (Laughlin) La Grange. In 1904 he came to Minneapolis, where in the same year he formed a connection with his present business associates. After four years of experience with the Twin City Scenic Corporation, during which time he gave ample proof of his marked business ability, he was made secretary and treasurer. Since then Mr. La Grange has devoted himself enthusiastically to the duties of his position and the success of his work is amply attested by the nation-wide scope of the business. The corporation was organized by Theodore L. Hayes and W. K. Brown and is engaged in the manufacture of scenery for theatres and high schools, for which it finds a market throughout the United States. On April 22, 1916, occurred the marriage of Mr. La Grange to Miss Florence Wilson. Mr. and Mrs. La Grange have a daughter, Lois. The republican party claims Mr. La Grange's support in political matters. For many years he has enjoyed the associations of the Masonic fraternity and is a charter member of Joppa Lodge, A. F. & A. M., in Minneapolis. He also belongs to the Minneapolis Consistory, to Zuhrah Temple of the Mystic Shrine, and has attained the thirty-second degree of the Scottish Rite. As a member of the Minneapolis Athletic Club, the Builders Exchange, the Civic & Commerce Association and the Lake Street District Association of Commerce, he lends his support to the movements undertaken to make Minneapolis an ideal city in which to live and work. In seeking recreation he finds nothing so satisfactory as fishing, and certainly nowhere in the whole United States could the modern Izaak Walton find better opportunities for angling than in the "State of Ten Thousand Lakes."
