LATHROP Roy A. Lathrop, a representative business man of Minneapolis, has made life insurance his life's work, and there is no phase of the business with which he is not familiar. He was born in Erie, Pennsylvania, November 9, 1888, and acquired his education in the public schools of that city. His initial commercial experience was along insurance lines and he has since been identified with that business. In 1910 he came to Minneapolis, joining C. W. Van Tuyl, who represented the State Mutual Life Assurance Company of Worcester, Massachusetts, and this association has been maintained. In 1920 Mr. Lathrop was made general agent for the above company, with headquarters in Minneapolis, and has since filled that position. Mr. Lathrop was elected president of the Minneapolis Life Underwriters' Association for the year 1923. In 1913 Mr. Lathrop married Miss Sigrid Nelson, a native of Sweden, and they have become the parents of two daughters, Coralie and Llona. Mr. Lathrop is a member of the Calvary Baptist church and his political tenets are those of the republican party. His public spirit finds expression in his identification with the Civic & Commerce Association and he is also an active member of the Young Men's Christian Association of this city. In Masonry he has attained high rank, belonging to Hennepin Lodge, No. 4, F. & A. M., and to Minneapolis Consistory, A. & A. S. R , in which he has taken the thirty-second degree, and he is also connected with the Minneapolis Athletic Club. He is a very progressive and energetic young business man and the years have chronicled his growing success, while his steadfast adherence to high principles has gained for him the esteem and goodwill of all with whom he has been associated.
