LEARNED A young man of more than ordinary business ability is Park R. Learned, secretary-treasurer of Byron & Learned, printers and advertisers of Minneapolis. A native of St. Paul, his birth occurred on the llth of March, 1887, a son of Charles E. and Alice (Felter) Learned. Charles E. Learned was a native of Troy, New York, and came to Minneapolis in 1883, where he resided for some time. He later removed to St. Paul, however, where he lived until his death. The public schools of St. Paul afforded Park R. Learned his early education and after graduating from high school he became an apprentice to the printing business, learning it from the ground up. His close application to the thing at hand and innate ability won for him constant promotion until he was made assistant superintendent of the Pioneer Printing Company of St. Paul. Later he became sales manager, holding that position for eight years. In 1917 he joined Mr. Byron in the formation of the present firm of Byron & Learned, printers and advertisers, and he is active as secretary-treasurer. Park R. Learned possesses fine executive ability and gives his personal attention to every department. Mr. Byron established this business in 1888, when it became the Byron Printing Company. Subsequently it was conducted as Byron & Willard Company, and in 1917 the present partnership was formed. Both Mr. Learned and Mr. Byron stand high in business circles, for the best principles of honor and integrity have governed them in all transactions. On the 26th of April, 1910, Mr. Learned was united in marriage to Miss Zilpha Collins, a daughter of H. L. Collins of St. Paul. To their union two children have been born: Park R., Jr., and Alice L. Mrs. Learned is prominent in club and social circles. Since attaining his majority Park R. Learned has given his stanch support to the republican party and the principles for which it stands. Although he has never sought nor desired public preferment he is ever cognizant of the duties and obligations of good citizenship and to that end is active in the furtherance of any movement for the devel­opment and improvement of the city, county and state. His religious faith is that of the Episcopal church and he is a generous contributor to its support. Fraternally Mr. Learned is a Scottish Rite Mason and he is conceded to be an exemplary member of the craft. He is a member of the Civic & Commerce Association and socially holds membership in the Minneapolis Athletic Club and the Interlachen Country Club, also the Automobile Club. A man of genial and pleasing personality, Mr. Learned has many friends.
