LOWE Justus F. Lowe, one of the esteemed citizens of Minneapolis, has since 1917 been active in business circles here and for the past four years has served as chief executive of the Justus F. Lowe Company, Incorporated, now Lowe, Grubbs & Company, Incorporated, with offices in the McKnight building and in St. Paul. He was born in 1888, in Omaha, Nebraska, a son of Frederick B. and Jennie M. (Patrick) Lowe. The paternal grandfather, Jesse Lowe, was the first mayor of Omaha and one of the prominent and influential men of his day. The Lowe family originally resided in Virginia, but migrated west long before the railroads were put through that country. The Patrick family originally resided near Rochester, New York, whence they removed to Ohio and subsequently to Nebraska. In the acquirement of his early education Justus F. Lowe attended the public schools of Omaha and after attending high school made his initial step into the business world in the bond business. He has continued in this line of business, having forged ahead until today he is head of one of the large investment houses in the state. He came to Minneapolis in 1917 and opened an office for eastern investment bankers, which he conducted with success until 1919, when he organized the Justus F. Lowe Company. That company was incorporated in 1920 as the Justus F. Lowe Company, Incorporated, Mr. Lowe becoming president and principal stockholder. In February, 1923, Mr. Walter S. Grubbs of St. Paul was elected vice president, at which time the firm name was changed to Lowe, Grubbs & Company, Incorporated. The company specializes in railroad, public utility and industrial bonds and enjoys a business of extensive proportions. On the 23d of February, 1914, occurred the marriage of Mr. Lowe to Miss Carolyn Harding of Omaha. Her demise occurred in August, 1921. She is survived by her husband and a son, John Harding, eight years of age. Since attaining his majority Mr. Lowe has given his political endorsement to the republican party and the principles for which it stands. For some time he was a member of the National Guard. Socially he is identified with the Minneapolis Club and the Minikahda Club.
