Marion Daniel Shutter, D.D., LL.D.; Volume I - Shutter (Historical); volume II - Biographical; volume III - Biographical ======================================================== Vol II, pg 167 HENRY CLINTON MACKALL Henry Clinton Mackall, a Minnesota and Harvard man, engaged in the practice of law in Minneapolis since his admission to the bar in 1909, was born in Moorhead, Minnesota, February 18, 1885, his parents being Benjamin Franklin and Mary (Kurtz) Mackall. The father, a native of Maryland, was a son of Henry Clinton Mackall, while the mother was a daughter of Colonel John D. Kurtz of the United States army, who was chief of the Engineering Corps. Benjamin F. Mackall is a druggist, who for fifty years has engaged in business in Moorhead, Minnesota, one of the most honored and representative merchants of that city. Henry C. Mackall pursued his education in the Moorhead Normal school, from which he was graduated with the class of 1902, and in the University of Minnesota, in which he won the Bachelor of Arts degree in 1906. Thus in broad literary training he laid the foundation for the acquirement of his professional knowledge. He became a law student at Harvard and completing the course in 1909 was admitted to the Minnesota bar in the same year. He then began practice with the firm of Cobb & Wheelwright of Minneapolis and was associated with them for seven years. In January, 1917, he became associated with John R. Vanderlip and in February, 1918, the present firm of Jamison, Stinchfield & Mackall was organized. This is one of the leading law firms of Minneapolis engaged in general practice. On the 10th of May, 1916, Mr. Mackall was married to Miss Louise C. Jamison, a daughter of Hon. Robert Jamison. Mr. and Mrs. Mackall have one child, Nancy Louise. They are members of St. Mark's Episcopal church, and Mr. Mackall belongs to the republican party. He finds his recreation in golf, hunting, shooting and fishing and enjoys all manly outdoor sports. He belongs to the Sigma Alpha Epsilon, the Delta Chi, the Scabbard and Blade, the National Military Fraternity and the Sons of the Revolution. He was a captain in the National Guard of the Fourth Minnesota Infantry during the World war period and was later attached to the brigade staff. He is a member of the Minneapolis and the Minikahda clubs, of which he has been an officer for ten years. Along strictly professional lines his membership is with the Minneapolis, Hennepin County, the Minnesota State and the American Bar associations.
