MALAND, M. D. Dr. Clarence O. Maland, who in the practice of the medical profession specializes in obstetrics and gynecology in Minneapolis, was born in Rushford, Minnesota, September 25, 1881, while his parents, Martin and Susan Maland, were natives of Wisconsin. He attended the public schools of his native city until graduated from the high school of Rushford with the class of 1900, and later he pursued his more specifically literary course in the University of Minnesota, which conferred upon him his Bachelor of Arts degree at his graduation with the class of 1904. He remained a medical student in the State University and won his M. D. degree in 1907. He then located for practice in Minneapolis, after spending one year as interne in the Swedish Hospital, whereby he gained broad and valuable experience that can never be acquired as quickly in any other way as in hospital practice. He is now connected with the Minneapolis General Hospital and also with the staff of the Swedish Hospital and is acknowledged by the profession and by the general public as a physician of ability and power especially in the line of his specialty. He is now assistant profes­sor of obstetrics and gynecology in the University of Minnesota, and he belongs to the Hennepin County Medical Society, the State Medical Society and the American Medical Association, also to the Southern Minnesota Medical Society and the Ameri­can College of Surgeons. On the 12th of November, 1912, Dr. Maland was united in marriage to Miss Magdalene Holter of Minneapolis, and they have one child, Marna. The Doctor belongs to the Nu Sigma Nu, a Greek letter fraternity, and he is also identified with the Acacia fraternity. Determination, energy and laudable ambition have carried him steadily forward in professional ranks and he has developed a high degree of efficiency and skill along the special line of medical practice which has claimed his attention and energies for several years.
