O. McPHEETERS, M.D. (Herman O. McPheeters) Dr. H. 0. McPheeters, who in the practice of his profession largely specializes in surgery and obstetrics, was born in Spring Island, Minnesota, January 31, 1891. his parents being George and Annie (Henson) McPheeters, the former a native of Indiana, while the latter was born in Pennsylvania. The father was a farmer by occupation and in the '80s removed westward to Mankato but afterward returned to Indiana. In 1919, however, he became a resident of Minneapolis, where he resided until death called him in August, 1921. His widow is now making her home with her son, Dr. McPheeters. In his youthful days H. O. McPheeters was a pupil in the public schools at Spring Island, Minnesota, and afterward attended high school at Aitkin, this state, being there graduated in 1909. In the fall of the same year he matriculated in Hamline University, which he attended until 1911 and then entered Northwestern University of Chicago, from which he was graduated on the completion of a four years' medical course in 1915, winning his professional degree in June of that year. He afterward put his theoretical knowledge to the practical test as an interne in the Wesley Memorial Hospital of Chicago, where he served for eighteen months, gaining that broad and valuable experience which is never acquired as quickly and thoroughly in any other way as in hospital practice. He then located in Genoa, Illinois, where he remained for six months, at the end of which time he removed to Redwood Falls, Minnesota, where he continued for a year. In 1917 Dr. McPheeters entered the service of his country as a member of the Medical Corps and was assigned to Base Hospital A and later to 202. He was over­seas in France for nine months, doing important work in connection with the care of the sick and wounded, and was commissioned first lieutenant. He received his dis­charge on the 19th of March, 1919, since which time he has been practicing in Minne­apolis. Here he has made steady progress in his profession and in addition to a grow ing private practice he is serving on the staff of Fairview Hospital. He belongs to the Hennepin County and Minnesota State Medical societies and through their pro­ceedings as well as through private reading and study keeps in touch with the trend of modern professional thought and practice. On the 1st of January, 1917, Dr. McPheeters was married to Miss Ethel T. Anderson of Redwood Palls, Minnesota, and they have one son, George, who was born April 22, 1920. Dr. McPheeters has membership in the Masonic fraternity and also belongs to the Fellows fraternity of Hamline University and the Nu Sigma Nu, a fraternity of Northwestern University. ------------- Alternate spelling: MCPHEITERO, MCPHIETUS, MCFEETERS
