He has taken cognizance of his opportunities, utilizing them to the best advantage, and his constantly expanding powers have made him capable of controlling large affairs. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, May 20, 1880, and after completing his public school course entered the Christian Brothers College at St. Louis, Missouri, from which he was graduated in 1899, with the degree of Bachelor of Arts. He was identified with various business houses until 1900, when he secured the position of bookkeeper in the savings department of the Illinois Trust & Savings Bank and his capable work led to his promotion to the position of accountant in that department. In 1904 he joined Hately Brothers of Chicago, exporters of meats and provisions, as general bookkeeper and ac countant and in the year 1906 John C. Hately of that firm was appointed receiver of the estate of the late John Alexander Dowie, who became the founder of the Zionist religion in the United States. Mr. Molyneaux accompanied his employer to Zion City. Illinois, where he remained for two years, acting as auditor and as Mr. Hately's assist ant. In the meantime he had taken up the study of law and higher accounting and upon the termination of the receivership, in 1908, in order to gain broader experience he entered the field of public accounting in Chicago, in which he continued for two and a half years, when he became auditor and assistant cashier for N. W. Halsey & Company to Chicago. He continued with that firm until 1915, when failing health compelled him to seek outdoor employment and he became a bond salesman for McCoy & Company, remaining in their" service until January 1, 1917. Having regained his health, he again took up accounting and accepted the offer made him by H. M. Byllesby to act as supervising auditor for the southwestern properties owned and controlled by that corporation through the Standard Gas & Electric Company. In August, 1917, having completed the consolidation of the Oklahoma Gas & Electric Company, Mr. Molyneaux was sent to Minneapolis to replace H. R. Frost, who was then treasurer of the Northern States Power and General Electric companies and their subsidiaries, and he has since filled this responsible office, also acting as general auditor. He finds genuine pleasure in solving intricate and involved business problems and has the power of concentration, which enables him to give his entire thought to the matter in hand. On the 29th of June, 1918, Mr. Molyneaux was united in marriage to Miss Frances Esther McCaffrey of Chicago, Illinois, and they have a daughter, Irene Margaret. They are communicants of the Catholic church and Mr. Molyneaux is a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Minneapolis Athletic Club and the Minneapolis Golf Club. His is the record of a strong mentality, stable in purpose, quick in perception, swift in decision, energetic and persistent in action, and Minneapolis numbers him among her self-made men and foremost citizens.
