NELSON One of the most progressive young business men of Minneapolis is Bernard B. Nelson, secretary of the Northland Milk & Ice Cream Company. He was born just outside of the limits of this city, on the 21st of December, 1893, a son of C. A. and Amanda (Danielson) Nelson, prominent residents of Minneapolis. The public schools of Fridley afforded Bernard B. Nelson his early educational training and subsequently he enrolled in Minnesota College, where he took both a literary and business course. After putting his textbooks aside he became associated with his father in the conduct of the Clover Leaf Creamery, of which the latter is president and with which enterprise he remained for three years. In December, 1916, Mr. Nelson purchased a half interest in the Modern Milk Company and became secretary and treasurer of the concern. In October, 1922, a consolidation of the Modern Milk Company, the Quaker Creamery Company, the Elwell Dairy Farms Company and the Metropolitan Milk Company was made under the name of the Northland Milk & Ice Cream Company, with Mr. Nelson as secretary. The company, which is the largest of its kind in the Northwest, was capitalized for three million, five hundred thousand dollars and operates three plants. Mr. Nelson has proven a valuable addition to the concern and is discharging the many duties devolving upon him with great ease and efficiency. The Northland Milk & Ice Cream Company distributes about twenty-five thousand gallons of milk daily and five tons of butter. When the United States entered into the World war Mr. Nelson enlisted in the machine gun brigade on the 15th of August, 1918, and was stationed at Camp Hancock until receiving his honorable discharge on the 7th of January, 1919. On the 1st of May, 1918, was celebrated the marriage of Mr. Nelson and Miss Harriet B. Dahl of Minneapolis, and they have become parents of a daughter, Harriet Marilynn, who was born February 1, 1923. Mrs. Nelson is a woman of much personal charm and is prominent in the club and social circles of this city. Since attaining his majority Mr. Nelson has given his political support to the republican party and the principles for which it stands. Fraternally he is a thirty-second degree Mason and he holds membership in Plymouth Lodge, No. 160, A. F. & A. M.; Minneapolis Consistory; and Zuhrah Temple of the Mystic Shrine. Socially he is connected with the Minneapolis Athletic Club and as a public-spirited citizen he is affiliated with the Business Men's Association and the Civic & Commerce Association.
