PARKER Charles J. Parker, secretary and treasurer of the Western Motor Supply Company of Minneapolis, is a native of Illinois, his birth having occurred in Gerlaw, Warren county. He is the son of Almiron G. and Hulda (Higgin) Parker. His father was born in Cameron, Illinois, but the family originally came from Virginia, where it had long been established. When Charles J. Parker was a child of four his parents moved to Burlington, Iowa, where he attended the public schools. A subsequent move took him to Winnebago, Minnesota, and it was in the high school there that he finished his education. Having come so near to the Twin Cities in his youth, it was not surprising that when he had graduated from high school Mr. Parker should have determined to seek his career in Minneapolis. Accordingly, he came to this city, where he was at first connected with the fruit and commission business, with which he was associated for eight years. Following this for a couple of years he was engaged in the automobile tire business, which led to his present position as secretary and treasurer of the Western Motor Supply Company. As its name suggests this company deals in automobile supplies, enjoying its share of this profitable trade. To this prosperity Mr. Parker's ability as a business man has been a contributing factor, with the result that his association with the firm is reciprocally satisfactory. On the 14th of January, 1909, Mr. Parker was united in marriage to Miss Jessie Grace Robertson and they have become the parents of two daughters: Mary Louise and Joan. Mr. Parker is a member of the Civic & Commerce Association, in which he takes a deep interest and actively supports its program for the public welfare and industrial development of his city. He is also affiliated with the Minneapolis Athletic, Minneapolis Golf and Automobile clubs.
