PHELPS (Louis T. Phelps) One of the progressive young business men of Minnesota is L. T. Phelps, secretary and treasurer of E. L. Phelps & Company, Incorporated. A native of this city, his birth occurred on the 10th of June, 1887, a son of E. L. and Nellie (Bromley) Phelps. In the acquirement of his education L. T. Phelps attended the public schools of this city, the Garfield school and the South high school. After putting his textbooks aside he engaged in business with his father, who with Stark Olson established E. L. Phelps & Company in 1888, on Eleventh and Franklin avenues. In 1916 Mr. Olson's death occurred and two years later the business was incorporated with E. L. Phelps as president and L. T. Phelps, secretary and treasurer. They deal in grain and feed on an extensive scale and have offices and a large mill at No. 1800 Franklin avenue. Mr. Phelps is a most progressive young business man. He is efficient in the discharge of the many duties devolving upon him, conscientiously applying himself to every task, in full recognition of his responsibilities. On the 18th of November, 1908, was celebrated the marriage of L. T. Phelps to Miss Anna Langseth of Minneapolis, and to their union three children have been born: Doris, Edward and Mary. Mrs. Phelps is a woman of much personal charm and she is prominent in the club and social circles of this city. Since attaining his majority L. T. Phelps has been a strict adherent of the repub­lican party and the principles for which it stands. He has never sought nor desired public preferment, but can always be counted upon as a cooperant factor in any move­ment for the development and improvement of this section of the state. His religious faith is evidenced in his membership in Park Avenue Congregational church. Frater­nally he is a thirty-second degree Mason and he holds membership in Minneapolis Lodge, No. 19, F. & A. M.; Minneapolis Consistory; and Zuhrah Temple of the Mystic Shrine. He is likewise affiliated with the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks and socially is connected with the Auto Club. The company are members of the Chamber of Commerce and Mr. Phelps is an active contributor to that organization. He is recog­nized as one of Minneapolis' most public-spirited citizens and enjoys the confidence and esteem of all.
