PRICE George W. Price, one of the younger business men of Minneapolis, now identified with the automobile trade, is a native of this city. He was born on the 15th of January, 1893, and is the son of George H. and Grace (Murphy) Price, natives of New Brunswick. An account of his father, for years a prominent lumberman of Minneapolis, appears elsewhere in this volume. George W. Price attended the grade schools of his native city and later East high school, following which he took a two-year academic course at the University of Minnesota. It was during these college days that Mr. Price was initiated into the brotherhood of Delta Tau Delta, a college fraternity whose associations continue to be among the most highly prized in his life. Mr. Price left college to engage in the farm mortgage business, which he continued for four years. At the end of that time the United States had joined in the European war and he entered the government service, giving up his private business to devote his entire time to this patriotic work. He served in the capacity of a member of the American Protective League as inspector in the department in charge of the jail and draft work. Shortly after the cessation of hostilities the war work of the department of justice, along with that of many other government departments, was largely curtailed and Mr. Price was among the workers who were permitted to return to private life. In March, 1919, Mr. Price purchased the Fashion Garage building at No. 2315 Hennepin avenue and organized the Fashion Garage Company, of which he is the president and treasurer. Under his direction this concern has had a prosperous growth and now has an enviable reputation for prompt and reliable service to all its patrons. Inheriting his father's business acumen, as well as his initiative and enterprise, Mr. Price can look forward to a prosperous and highly creditable business career. Mr. Price was married to Miss Josephine Higgins, a descendant of William Bradford, one of the Mayflower Pilgrims and the second governor of historic Plymouth Colony. The Bradford family, one of the most honored of our colonial families, was first represented in Minnesota by William Bradford, one of the early settlers in this state. His daughter, Virginia Bradford, was Mrs. Price's mother. To Mr. and Mrs. Price two children have been born, Josephine and George W., Jr.
