ROCKSTAD (Anfin Rockstad) A. Rockstad is one of the successful younger business men of Minneapolis who are contributing so much to the city's commercial development. He is a native of Minnesota, his birth having occurred at Blooming Prairie on September 27, 1877. His early boyhood, however, was spent at Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where he attended the public schools. At the age of fourteen he undertook the study of pharmacy and it is the drug industry that has been his chief interest ever since. In 1906 Mr. Rockstad came to Minneapolis and opened a drug store at the corner of Twenty-ninth avenue and Washington avenue North, where he remained for one and one-half years, and then moved to Twenty-second street and Fourth avenue South, where he conducted a prosperous business for twelve years. In 1917 he moved to his present location at the corner of Franklin avenue and Fourth avenue South. In this drug store, of which he is the sole proprietor, Mr. Rockstad carries a remarkably complete line of drugs and medical supplies. It is thoroughly up-to-date in every respect and is an establishment deserving of the generous patronage that it receives. Mr. Rockstad is also greatly interested in the Felix Girard Company of manufacturing chemists, in which he holds the office of president. The concern prepares all kinds of insecticides, which are distributed all over the country, and the company is the greatest manufacturer of rodent exterminators in the United States. The factory is located at No. 2013 Fourth avenue South. Mr. Rockstad was married in 1906 to Miss Zella Davis of Anoka, Minnesota, and they have two sons, Carl and Donald. The republican party claims Mr. Rockstad's vote. His religious faith is that of the Norwegian Lutheran church and he is identified with the Masonic order, belonging to Joppa Lodge, F. & A. M., and to the Scottish Rite Masons. He finds his recreation in motoring and is a member of the Auto Club of Minneapolis. He also belongs to the Civic & Commerce Association and the Franklin Avenue Business Men's Association. As secretary of the latter organization he is giving much of his time and energy to the furthering of matters of civic interest.
