Scheldrup, a Minneapolis surgeon of recognized ability, was born in Tovik, Norway, on the 1st of September, 1873, his parents being Martin and Amalia (Wanvig) Scheldrup, who were also natives of the Land of the Midnight Sun. The father was a wholesale merchant of Norway and engaged in both the export and import trade. Dr. Scheldrup, having pursued the usual preliminary. education in Norway, sailed for the new world in the fall of 1891 to complete his studies. He went to Chicago, where he entered Rush Medical College, and was there graduated in 1897, on the completion of the full medical course. Later he opened an office at Granite Falls, Minnesota, where he entered upon the practice of medicine and for nine years he successfully conducted a private hospital there. During that time he also went to Europe and pursued postgraduate work in Paris, France, and Berlin, Germany. Throughout his connection with the medical profession he has been a close student of everything that has pertained to professional advancement, carrying his investigations far and wide into the realm of scientific research and knowledge. In 1906 he came to Minneapolis and entered into active association with Dr. Frederick A. Dunsmoor, with whom he continued in practice for eight years. He is now surgeon to the Fairview Hospital and he practically gives his entire time and attention to surgery, in which connection he has become most widely and favorably known throughout the Northwest. He belongs to the Hennepin County Medical Society, the State Medical Society and the American Medical Association. Dr. Scheldrup was married to Miss Eva D. Dunsmoor, a niece of Dr. Frederick A. Dunsmoor, and they have four children: Alfred H., twenty-four years of age, who was in the officers organization of the University of Minnesota during the World war; Louise, Robert H., and Eugene, aged, respectively, twenty-one, nineteen and eighteen years. The family residence is at No. 2600 Newton avenue, South. Dr. Scheldrup is well known in club circles, having membership in the Interlachen Country Club, the Automobile Club, the Civic & Commerce Association and Odin Club. During the World war he served at Camp Grant with the rank of captain, being on duty at the Base Hospital, and later was transferred to Chicago, where he was connected with Reconstruction Hospital, No. 32. With his arrival in America to prepare for a professional career he at once became an interested observer of American ways and customs and a loyal supporter of American government. He has always been faithful to the interests of his adopted land and his entire course reflects creditably and honorably upon the city which he has chosen as his home. Here the constant development of his powers has brought him to the front and he stands in the front ranks of the able surgeons of the Northwest.
