Marion Daniel Shutter, D.D., LL.D.; Volume I - Shutter (Historical); volume II - Biographical; volume III - Biographical Vol II, pg 706 FREDERICK W. SEELERT One of the popular young business men of Minneapolis is Frederick W. Seelert, part owner of the Northwestern Machine & Tool Works. He was born in Germany and in that country received his early education. In 1902 he came to the United States with his parents and took up the trade of machinist and toolmaker, becoming apprenticed to the trade in Hamilton, Ohio. In 1910 he came to Minneapolis and worked in various machine shops until July, 1920, when he joined Gust M. Ruhnke in the organization of the Northwestern Machine & Tool Works at 318-20 Third avenue South. They engage in the manufacture of all kinds of machinery, do cylinder grinding, gear cutting, etc. There is no phase of the business with which Mr. Seelert is not familiar and he is proving himself a capable and progressive young business man. He devotes his entire time and attention to the business and is achieving well-merited success. In politics Mr. Seelert maintains an independent course, giving his support to the man he thinks best fitted for the office, without regard for party principles. Although he has had little time for political affairs, he is essentially public-spirited and is conversant on all the important questions and issues of the day. Fraternally he is a Mason, holding membership in Arcana Lodge, F. & A. M., Minneapolis Consistory of the Scottish Rite, and Zuhrah Temple of the Mystic Shrine. The best principles of honesty and integrity have governed Mr. Seelert in all transactions and he is held in high esteem by all who know him.
