TABOUR (Jerome B. Tabour) The period of J. B. Tabour's connection with the real estate business in Minneapolis is of greater extent than that of any other realtor of the city. Since 1907 he has conducted his interests under the name of the J. B. Tabour Realty Company, of which he is the president and treasurer. He is a native son of this city, his birth having occurred June 8, 1855, his parents being Lorenzo T. and Sarah C. (Sadler) Tabour. The public school system of the city afforded him his educational opportunities and he completed a course in the high school. His father had purchased a farm in this vicinity and for ten years after his school days were over J. B. Tabour resided on the farm, giving his attention to general agricuftural pursuits. Believing that there were broader business opportunities to be enjoyed in the city, however, at the end of that decade he turned his attention to real estate dealing, in which he has been engaged for forty years. He steadily acquired knowledge of the real estate market and of the properties for sale and soon became recognized as an excellent valuator of Minneapolis realty. Moreover, the progressive methods which he followed and his thorough reliability contributed to the upbuilding of his business and year by year his patronage increased, bringing him a substantial financial return. In the year 1907 he incorporated his business under the name of the J. B. Tabour Realty Company, of which, however, he is the sole owner. He deals in Minneapolis and suburban properties and in addition has an extensive loan department and also handles all kinds of fire insurance, the various branches of his business proving profitable. Today he is the dean among the realtors of this city and his long business experience covers many important property transfers which he has negotiated, until he is among the most successful men in this field of labor in Minnesota. Mr. Tabour was united in marriage to Miss Myrtle M. Smith and they are highly esteemed in the city, where they have an extensive circle of warm friends. Since age conferred upon him the right of franchise Mr. Tabour has given his political allegiance to the republican party, supporting its candidates at the polls, yet never seeking or desiring office as a reward for party fealty. He belongs to the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks and something of the nature of his recreation is indicated in the fact that he has membership in the Golden Valley Golf Club and the Minnetonka Golf Club. Courteous by nature, genial by disposition, his unfeigned cordiality has won for him warm friendships among those with whom he has had both business and social relations.
