Thomas Thompson, Jr., is a native son of Minneapolis, born in 1886, his parents being Thomas and Carrie M. (Bangsberry) Thompson. In the acquirement of his education he attended the public schools, becoming in course of time a student in the South high school. In 1888 his father established a transfer business in Minneapolis and when the school days of the son were over he joined his father in that undertaking and has since directed his efforts along that line. In April, 1921, he organized the business under the name of the Thompson Transfer Company, of which he is sole proprietor. His location is at No. 310 South Fourth street, and he does all kinds of moving, packing and shipping and maintains a fireproof storage house. He keeps auto trucks for long distance moving and horse-drawn vans for short distance moving. The business has steadily grown and the company acts as freight distributors for business houses and does light and heavy hauling. There is today an extensive patronage accorded the Thompson Transfer Company and the owner of the business, Thomas Thompson, Jr., is well qualified to handle the interests entrusted to his care, by reason of his long experience as the associate of his father and later through his independent operations. Mr. Thompson is a veteran of the World war. He enlisted on the 9th of May, 1918, in the Twentieth Field Artillery for active service and his regiment was assigned to the Fifth Division in France, where he was on active duty with his command until after the signing of the armistice, when the division became a part of the Army of Occupation in Germany and was stationed at Wittlich. In the summer of 1919 they returned to America and Mr. Thompson was honorably discharged at Camp Dodge, on the 29th of July, 1919. He is a member of Halverson Bowers Post, No. 187, of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, thus maintaining pleasant relations with his army comrades. He is widely known in the city in which practically his entire life has been passed save for the period of his military service, and he has here a large circle of friends, while in business connections he is rapidly making for himself a creditable place and position.
