Dr. Clarence Elvin Willcutt, a Minneapolis physician and surgeon who has been actively engaged in practice here during the past eleven years, has become widely recognized as one of the able and successful representatives of the profession in this city. His birth occurred in Ida county, Iowa, on the 8th of January, 1884, his parents being Robert and Ida (Wilson) Willcutt, both of whom are also natives of that state. The father is a retired merchant. Clarence E. Willcutt pursued a high school course at Ida Grove, Iowa, and subsequently attended Buena Vista College for two years, after which he entered upon preparation for his chosen profession as a student in the medical department of the University of Iowa, from which institution he was graduated with the degree of M. D. in 1909. He first opened an office at Schaller, Iowa, but at the end of two years came to Minneapolis, where he has remained and has been accorded a practice of extensive and gratifying proportions as the result of his marked ability in the treatment of disease and the alleviation of human suffering. Since 1918 he has been associated with Dr. Charles G. Weston at Hill Crest Hospital and he is also on the staff of the General Hospital and consulting obstetrician at the Maternity Hospital. He pursued a postgraduate course in Chicago in 1911 and in 1916 attended the polyclinic in New York city, while in 1918 he did postgraduate work in the Lying-in Hospital of the eastern metropolis. Moreover, he has kept in close touch with the advanced thought and work of the profession through his membership connection with the Hennepin County Medical Society, the Minnesota State Medical Society and the American Medical Association. On the 8th of June, 1910, Dr. Willcutt was united in marriage to Miss Alice E. Sisson of Iowa and they have become parents of two sons, Robert and Clarence. The Doctor is a Blue Lodge Mason, a member of the Elks Club, the Superior Golf Club and the Phi Rho Sigma medical fraternity, and has won the esteem and high regard of those with whom he has come into contact in both professional and social circles.
