Works, an attorney at law, has been actively and successfully engaged in the practice of his profession in Minneapolis for the past fifteen years and has been accorded an extensive and lucrative clientage. His birth occurred in Augusta, Wisconsin, on the 5th of August, 1882, his parents being Obadiah and Clara (Perry) Works, the former a native of St. Lawrence county, New York, while the latter was also born in the Empire state. Obadiah Works, who devoted his attention to general agricultural pursuits throughout his business career, took up his abode on a farm in Eau Claire county, Wisconsin, prior to the Civil war and continued to reside thereon to the time of his demise, which occurred in 1921. Robert M. Works attended the public schools in the acquirement of his, early education and remained on the home farm until twenty years of age. He then spent one year as a student in the University of Wisconsin and next matriculated in the University of Minnesota, receiving the professional training which enabled him to pass the bar examination in 1907. In that year he was admitted to practice and has since followed his profession in Minneapolis with pronounced success, having been connected with a number of important law cases. He is very thorough and painstaking in the preparation of his cases, is clear and cogent in his reasoning and logical in his deductions and has, therefore, won many verdicts favorable to his clients. He belongs to both the Hennepin County Bar Association and the Minnesota State Bar Association. On the 22d of May, 1909, Mr. Works was united in marriage to Miss Louella Tornell of Center City, Minnesota, and they have become parents of two children: Robert M., Jr., who is six years of age; and Marjorie Lou, who is but a year old. They occupy an enviable social position in Minneapolis and Mr. Works enjoys the warm regard, confidence and goodwill of his professional colleagues.
