Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Becky Jonsgaard and Sonia Henderson ========================================================================= Johnston Cemetery - Houston County Sources: Houston County Historical Society Houston Valley Signal Newspaper Cemetery walk through This is as complete a transcription as Sonia and I could do. We took some of the info from the list given to us by the Houston County Historical Society. We are providing them with an updated transcription as well. At the bottom of this transcript which they gave to us it states: At the time of settlement, this site had been used by the Indians for scaffold burials. There were the remains of an Indian Chief in a log enclosure in 1852-3. There are probably other burials here which are unmarked as well. Directions to this cemetery: Take Highway 76 to Houston, MN. In Houston, go right on Highway 16 (West) toward Rushford. Go to Johnston Road, which is on the left hand side. Go left on Johnston Road to the top of the hill. The cemetery is on the right.
