She was a very active robust old lady who was always in good humor. She was sick about two weeks before her death and had always been able to take care of herself and her household duties. The funeral took place Friday morning for St. John the Baptist Church, Rev Fr Borresch officiating. Deceased was born in County Cork, Ireland. Her maiden name was Johanna Keefe. She was a young girl when she came to this country. In the year 1853 she was united in marriage to Edward Hayes, at Hillsboro, Ohio. In 1861, they came to this county and settled on a farm in Sheldon township. Mr. Hayes died June 20, 1907. The children who are left to mourn her loss are two sons; Edward of Lewiston, MN and Timothy of Caledonia and five daughters: Mrs. Charles Martin of Madison, S Dak, Mrs. Anna McIlaine of Tacoma, Wash, Mrs. Alice Sheridan and Mrs. John Graham of LaCrosse and Mrs. Henry Mulligan of this place
