FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Harrison Benjamin Submitted: April 2002 ========================================================================= Obit of Ole Omodt (1808-1892), Houston Co., MN Died- Omodt On Saturday, May 21, '92, of heart disease, Ole Omodt, aged ninety-four years. On the morning of the 21st Mr. O. arose, feeling as well as usual, and started to Winona to visit a married daughter living there; while on the road, and as they were nearing Centerville, Mr. Omodt , without a moments warning, laid back in the seat and breathed his last. Deceased came here in 1852, being one of the first settlers in this part of the country. He was highly respected and many will remember him for kindnesses rendered. Mr. O. leaves a family of four boys and two girls, to morn the loss of an indulgent father. He was buried Tuesday in the family burying ground, situated on the farm he has for nearly half a century called his home. Houston Valley Signal, Houston Minn., May 26, 1892 (Note: Ole Omodt was 84 when he died; arrived in America in 1854; was also survived by his wife, Martha Birkeland Omodt.
