From Houston (MN) Signal, Apr. 25, 1918: Tosten Olson of this village died Friday morning, April 19th at the Winona General Hospital, after an illness of nine days. Mr. Olson was born in Nummedal, Norway, November 17th, 1833, and on April 7th, 1858, was united in marriage to Marguret Anfin (sic), Who preceded him to the grave on April 3, 1904. In May, 1858, accompanied by his wife, he embarked on a sailing vessel for America. After a ten weeks' stormy voyage he landed in Quebec and continued his journey up the St. Lawrence River to Montreal, thence by rail via Detroit, and Chicago to Mc Gregor, Iowa. By boat from McGregor to Brownsville, Houston County, and by Team from Brownsville to Houston. In May 1860 he purchased a farm at Money Creek Station, Where he resided continuously until 1907. When he moved into the village and since made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Ellen Almquist. Mr. Olson is survived by three sons and four daughters, Ole T. of Dazey, N. Dak. Anton of Saskatoon, Canada, Charles T. of Winona, Mrs Leva Larson, and Mrs. Ellen Almquist of Houston, Anna and Mrs. Emma Watson of Seattle, Washington. The Funeral services were held at the St. Peters Church and interment in the Stone Church Cemetery, Rev. Ostrem Officiating, Rowland Bros. being in charge of the remains. All of the sons and daughters were present at the funeral, as were the family of C. T. Olson of Winona and Henry Larson and wife of Altura.
