CONARD-RICKER In response to letter missives sent out to different churches, a council convened at the Congregational church, Park Rapids, Oct. 30th, 1889 at 4 o'clock.  The council was called to advise as to the ordination of Rev. W. J. CONARD, the pastor. There were present, Rev. T. M. EDMUNDS of Wadena, Rev. James EARLE, state Evangelist, Rev. A. J. WOODIN, pastor of the Osage church with Mrs. John GILLION, deligate, and Supt. of Home Missions, Rev. J. h. MORLEY, of Minneapolis.  Rev. T. M. EDMUNDS acted as moderator and Rev. James EARLE as secretary.  Mr. CONARD, the candidate, was examined as to his religious experience, his belief and ideas as to the duty of a minister.  At its conclusion, the council by a unanimous vote declared the examination satis factory, and advised the church to proceed with the ordination.  An adjournment was was then taken and until evening.  Upon reesembling in the evening, the choir led in a song, after which the minutes of the council were read and accepted.  Then Rev. A. J. WOODIN read the scriptures, a collection for home missions was taken up, the c hoir sang an anthem, and Supt. MORLEY gave the ordination sermon from the text Jno. 1--3.  The discourse was an able one,the tHOUGHt emphasized by the speaker being the power and the privilege of sonship with God, given through Christ, to as many as receive Him.  The charge to the pastor was given by Rev. T. M. EDMUNDS, and the charge to the people by Rev. James EARLE, --both full of earnest practical suggestions and loving counsel.  With appropriate singing by the choir and a closing prayer by Rev. A  J. WOODIN, the duties of the council were finished.  But there was still something to follow, of which the minutes of the council had taken no cognizance.  Rev. J. A. MORLEY stepped down in front of the pulpit and the pastor, Rev. W. J. CONARD led Miss May E. RICKER up the aisle  and in a very simple and felicitous manner, they were pronounced man and wife by the Supt.  Congratulations, numerous and hearty, by the large number present, testify to the regard in which both bride and groom are held by the community.
