FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: June 14 2004 ========================================================================= Jackson County Victor Erick Carlson, son of Erick and Mayme (Kuehl) Carlson, was born on May 21, 1927 at Slayton, Minnesota. Victor grew up on the family farm and attended country school. Following his education, Victor remained at home and helped farm. He entered the U.S. Navy on March 27, 1946 and was stationed at Barbers Point and Kandioi Bay airstrips in Hawaii. Victor was discharged on January 8, 1948 and returned home. He married Jean Appel on June 21, 1954 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dundee. Following their marriage, the couple farmed east of Fulda for eight years. They then farmed south of Dundee for sixteen years and in 1978 moved to their present farm in Weimer Township, Jackson County. Jean passed away on May 11, 1995 and Victor continued to live on the farm until entering Main Street Manor in Heron Lake in September of 2004. He then entered the Lakeview Nursing Home in Heron Lake on February 18, 2005 and had resided there since. Victor was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and owned a 1995 Mustang and enjoyed going to car shows. Victor passed away on Thursday evening, August 11, 2005 at the Lakeview Nursing Home in Heron Lake. He was 78 years, 2 months and 21 days old. Victor is survived by two sons, Charles Carlson of Heron Lake and Guy and his wife Lisa Carlson of Heron Lake; a daughter, Tammy and her husband Tom Ahlers of rural Fulda; seven grandchildren, Justin Ahlers, Christopher Ahlers, Michael Ahlers, Cody Carlson, Adam Carlson, Nicholas Carlson and Alisa Carlson; a brother Roger and his wife Sharon Carlson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and three sisters, Gen Sieve of Wilmont, Eunice and her husband Keith Ramert of Lake Shetak and Shirley Boom of Bloomington. Victor was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jean and two sisters Gertrude and Charlotte. Funeral services were held Monday, August 15, 2005, at 10:30 a.m., at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Heron Lake, Minnesota, Fr. Andrew Olsem officiating.
