Obituaries:  Arnold Pottratz
Arnold Frederick William Pottratz, formerly of Mora, died March 3, 1983, at the 
age of 93 years.
He was born in Pipestone County, Minnesota, on Oct. 15, 1889 to Herman and Anna 
(Mohr) Pottratz.  He moved to Mora in 1901 and farmed in Hillman Township, 
Kanabec County until 1942.  He then moved to Portland, OR, where he resided for 
10 years with his daughter.  He spent his summers in the Mora area with his 
brother, Richard.
He was married to Esther Strom.  He enjoyed fishing and doing carpenter repair 
work.  He was a farmer and also worked in the shipyards in Portland, OR and in a 
saw mill.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in the Mora area.  He was a 
member of the Hillman Baptist Church while residing in the Hillman area.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Esther in 1941; five sisters; 
and one brother.
Survivors include his daughter, Doris Goldsmith of Long Beach, CA; two 
grandchildren, Janice Gietzen of Orange, CA and Gary Goldsmith of Long Beach, 
CA; two great grandchildren, Cherie and Erin Gietzen of Orange, CA; one brother, 
Richard Pottratz of Mora; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
