FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Carol Horrigan Submitted: Feb 2002 ========================================================================= This is information about my family who settled in Kandiyohi County in 1858 from Norway. My gr-gr grandfather: Johannes Iversen born Sept. 15 1821, Hurdal Akershus Norway emigrated to America in 1852. Settled in Kandiyohi County 1858. Killed by the Sioux Indians during the Indian wars of 1862. Johannes was cutting grass in a meadow near Cook, (or Crook?) Lake when he was ambushed and killed. Johannes died August 21 1862. Johannes is buried on the old claim that he first settled upon arriving in Kandiyohi County. He is buried on the Northeast quarter of section 32, town of Lake Andrew. His is the only family member's body buried there. Kari Johnsdatter (Iversen) (Johannes's wife) Born Sept. 1823 in Norway. died March 20 1886. Karie is buried at the Norwegian Synod Cemetery in Gennessee Township, Kandiyohi County . Note: After Johannes' death, Kari remarried a man named Ole Dahl. They had one child together. That child's name was Regus Dahl. (to be added below) Children of Johannes and Kari Iversen: John Andrew Everson (my gr-grandfather) born October 1851, Norway died Aug 29 1909 from a heart attack. John is buried at the Norwegian Synod Cemetery next to his mother Kari and his wife Christine Lund. Christine was born July 1865 in Sweden. She emigrated to America in 1887. Christine died Sept 26 1952. She is also buried at the Norwegian Synod Cemetery. Alvina Betsey Marie Everson- I do not have definitive birth or death dates for her at this time. However, she is mentioned in history books accounting the Sioux Indian War. Alvina was apparently captured by the Indians; she was placed on a pony, but the pony got spooked and ran off. Alvina managed to jump off the pony and hide in the bushes. The Indians never did find her, and she managed to escape and rejoin her mother Kari, and the other family members. Binnett Martin Everson- all I have on Binnett is that he married Christine Thompson Nov 26 1882, and that he passed away in 1926 in Stearns County Minnesota. Sophia Margaretha Everson- Born April 30 1860. She married a man named Mr. Lamb. No other information is available at this time. Lewis Peter Everson: no info on him as of this time. Buried at the Ebenezer Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, Kandiyohi Township, Kandiyohi County, beside his wife Amy Lunn. Amy Lunn was born Feb 7 1894, not sure where, yet. Amy passed away Dec 14 1935 at home in Atwater after a difficult childbirth. Amy is also buried at the Ebenezer Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery. She then had to stay at home to take care of her younger siblings. Myrvold Everson: born Aug 21 1917, died Aug. 1966 from cancer. Myrvold was a resident of Marinette Wisconsin. Note from Submitter: There are other children of William and Amy's that I don't yet have all the info on at this time. I will send you this information as it becomes available. I hope this helps, and if you have any questions, or other info I can give you, please contact me.
