The following information was compiled from family bible records, books 
and records provided to me by the Kandiyohi Historical Society, Norwegian 
census documents, a contact  at the University of Tromso in Norway, and 
Janet Grey in St Cloud, Minnesota who had alot of family records on the 
Johnson/Nilson family.

IDA OLEA OLSON ABELSET NEWGARD was born March 25, 1871 in Willmar 
Minnesota.  She met and married John Andrias Abelset c1892. John was a 
tailor by profession. Ida and John had three children, Marcus, Alta, and 
Ruth.  Marcus was born May 1893.  He attended law school and was a member 
of Delta Chi Fraternity.  He suffered from acute alcoholism and took his 
own life in February 1941.  Alta was born c 1896.  She married Edwin 
Landin and had one son John Edwin Landin, and a daughter Jean.  Alta died 
c1930.  Ruth was born January 1898. She married Winfield White and had 
one son David White.  Win died in 1976 and Ruth passed away July 1992.  
John Abelset died in 1934.  Ida married Sam Newgard several years later.  
Ida died in 1951.  Ida is buried in Mt Pleasant Cemetery next to her 
husband John Abelset and their son Marcus.
