P. Thompson, to take place at the Swed. Luth. church, Wednesday, May 31st. A reception takes place after ceremony at the bride's home. Willmar Weekly, June 7, 1899, page 4 A Large Wedding. New London Times: The marriage of Mr. Emil Johnson, one of our prosperous merchants, to Miss Mary Thompson, daughter of J. P. Thompson, occurred at the Swed. Luth. church yesterday morning at 10:30 o'clock, and the occasion proved to be the most happy and auspicious social event of the season. Miss Mary Green and Alice Gustafson were the bridesmaids, while the groom was attended by Messers. France Gustafson and Peter G. Thompson. The church had been very attractively decorated for the occasion with a profusion of flowers and leaves. After the impressive ceremony, Rev. Collin, who officiated, delivered a few short and very appropriate remarks to the newly married couple, after which the invited guests betook themselves to the home of the bride's parents where a bounteous dinner awaited them. The day was a beautiful one and everybody enjoyed themselves much during the afternoon. In the evening a delicious supper was served, and later the guests began to depart for their homes, all sincerely entertaining the best wishes for the young couple's future happiness. ---------------------------------------------------------- 1899 #523 (Marriage/Anniversay 25/50 card index) Emil Johnson and Mary Margaret Thompson, witnesses Peter Thompson and Trina Gustafson.
