FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Dan Submitted: 2001 ========================================================================= 1914 Obituary for Mrs. Farrel Daugherty Kandiyohi, Minnesota On February 12 occurred the death of Mrs. Farrel Daugherty, at the home of her son, John F. Daugherty, two miles west of Kandiyohi. Mrs. Daugherty was born in the town of Sligo, Ireland, about 88 years ago. Mr. Daugherty, who died about 11 years ago, was an old soldier, having served in the Civil War in the Tenth Minnesota Volunteers. They moved to this county from Shakopee more than 40 years ago, and till their death resided on the farm, two miles west of Kandiyohi. Mrs. Daugherty leaves to mourn her death, two sons and four daughters, Mrs. Matt Casey of Sedan, Mrs. Newman Whitney of Crookston, Mrs. Dan Downs of Kandiyohi, Mrs. Mary Downs of Willmar, John F. Daugherty of Kandiyohi and D. B. Daugherty of Willmar. The funeral took place Saturday morning, February 14th, at nine o'clock from the house and ten from St. Patrick's Church Kandiyohi, Father McDevitt officiating. Despite the extreme cold, a very large crowd gathered to pay their respects to the deceased. Among those in attendance from a distance were: Mrs. D. F. McDermott, Clontarf; Mr. P. F. McDonough, of Minneapolis; Mrs. Pat Farrel, Prior Lake; Mrs. Martin Murray and son Martin, Stillwater; Mrs. Geo. Bennett, Miss Anna Downs, Mrs. Ed McDonald, St. Paul; Mr. and Mrs. Mike Hannon, John Casey, P. L. Casey, Mrs. James Downs of Litchfield. ============================================================================
