FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Irene Hauner Submitted: November 2003 ========================================================================= From Littlefork Times and Littlefork Guardian, Thursday July 1937 Mrs. M. E. Scarlett- Dimon, pioneer of 1894, called to rest. Never before in Koochiching county have so many real pioneers (men and women who came here when this part of the state was an untouched wilderness) gathered to pay their last respects to one of their own, as on Tuesday afternoon, when funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Littlefork, for the late Mrs. Mary Dimon. She was a pioneer, coming to the Littlefork valley with her husband, A. T. Scarlett in 1894, and was according to the best records available, the first white woman on the Littlefork river. She was loved not only by those hardy pioneers who knew her before the turn of the century, but by hundreds belonging to newer and younger generations, who have come since that time. Mrs. Dimon, who died early Sunday morning, July 25th, from the ravages of cancer, was born in Denmark, July 23, 1864, and came to this country with her family as a little girl, and lived for a number of years in Duluth. In 1888 she married Adam T. Scarlett, and together they came to the Littlefork valley in 1894, where they lived for many years. They developed a fine farm. Several years after Mr. Scarlett died she married M.E. Dimon, who died in 1920. She is survived by one son, Raymond, and two stepsons, Leslie Dimon and Lee Dimon. Rev. E.M. Roberts, former Baptist minister at International Falls, and an old friend, came all the way from Sandusky, Ohio, to preach the funeral sermon. He was assisted by Rev. Charles Davis of International Falls, Rev. J. H. Davis and Rev. H. Olson, of this village. Pallbearers were all early settlers: Charles Jameson, Nels Gustafson, P.L. Peterson, Francis White, B.G. Holden and George Dahl. ========================================================================= Copyright.
