FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Irene Hauner Submitted: September 2003 ========================================================================= Koochiching county Obit - from 'The Littlefork Times' Frank Frye 1876-1940 Funeral services for Archibald Franklin Frye were held at the Baptist church last Saturday, with hundreds of friends and neighbors in attendance. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Harold Olson. Pallbearers were from among his pioneer friends and included the following; E.E. Polkinghorne, Ole Klefstad, Ira Foster, Ralph Hawkins, Clare Empey and I.J. Lee. Burial was made at the Littlefork cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of James Erickson. Mr. Frye passed away on Monday, August 26,1940 after an illness of nine days. He had suffered with a heart ailment for several years. The deceased was born at Farwell, Mich. July 2, 1876. He was married on Feb 2, 1906 to Miss Mabel Riley, at Cadillac, Mich. They came to Littlefork in 1910, and shortly thereafter purchased a farm near the Flatrock Rapids, on which the family resided until a few years ago. For about 18 to 30 years Mr. Frye lived here he was active as a logging contractor. During the last five years he was a county officer in the Agricultural Adjustment Administration. He was a graduate of the Farwell, Mich., high school and Mt. Pleasant Business College. He was an active member in the Littlefork I.O.O.F. lodge. Member of the lodge attended the funeral in a body. Besides his widow, he leaves two sons, Gerald, of this village, George, of Klamath Falls, Ore. And one daughter, Mrs. Edith Bault, of Bloomington Ind., all of whom were present at the funeral, and a grandson, Gaynor Reed Frye. Other living relatives are his stepmother, Mrs. S.F. Frye, of Farwell Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Olof Lundeen, Brookings, Ore; and Mrs. Fred Barnum, Jackson, Mich.; two brothers, Edwin and Edward Frye. Frank, as he was known to young and old, was of a kindly and friendly disposition, and he will be missed by a host of friends.
