FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Irene Hauner Submitted: September 2003 ========================================================================= From 'The Littlefork Times' January 1940 Mrs. Joseph Pelland, Sr. one of the first white women to settle in the Littlefork valley, passed away January 10, 1940, in Mt. Vernon, Washington. She had resided in the west since 1912 but had been back here several times for visits. Deliama LaGau Pelland spent her girlhood days near Fond Du Lac, Wisc. Her early married life was spent in Upper Michigan, where Mr. Pelland was a logger. In 1894 the family moved to this county via Tower and Rainy Lade and settled on a homestead at the mouth of the Littlefork river. Not only was Mrs. Pelland one of the first white women in the Littlefork valley, but she was the mother of the first boy born in the locality. Surviving Mrs. Peland are four daughters, Mrs. Guy (Emma) Parker, Mrs. Grant (Mayme) Franklin, Mrs. Frank (Stella) Mitchell, and Mrs. John (Eva) Huntington and six sons, Joseph Jr., Fred, Walter, Elmer, Willard and Abraham; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren
