Obituary extracted from the Minneota Mascot



October 15, 1897

"William Johnson, while at work with a threshing machine, last Friday, 

was suddenly overcome by sleep from which he could not be roused.  Dr Cox 

of Tyler was summoned, but all efforts were in vain and he died the next 

day, not having regained consciousness.  The deceased was a native of 

Iceland and was 74 years of age.  He was a very hard worker and had 

enjoyed the best of health until the day preceding his death.  The 

funeral took place from the home of his daughter, Mrs Benj. Thorgrimson, 

last Tuesday."
