For some days he had been drinking quite heavily and yesterday afternoon was known to have been under the influence of liquor. Just after six o'clock he went to Sigurdson's residence, where Mrs Sigurdson and Miss Bertha were alone at the time. He was so excited that they became afraid and ran out of the house and a moment later a shot was heard from within. This apparently did not take effect and another shot was heard almost immediately. This one must have caused instant death, as those who came upon the scene a few minutes later, found life totally extinct. Coroner Persons and County Attorney Brown were telephoned for and they arrived this morning. Upon examination of the remains they decided that a formal inquest was unnecessary, the case being so clear. Some relatives in North Dakota have been telegraphed the bad news and in the meantime the authorities have charge of the body. ========================================================================= Copyright Becky Davidson 2007.
