Death was due to a heart ailment, which had confined her at her bed since last August. The body was removed to the Rockwog Funeral Home in Mahnomen and funeral services were conducted by Rev. Charles A. Pobanz at the Waubun Congregational church on Thursday at 10 A.M. Born in Friedeberg, Germany, January 7, 1863, Augusta Albertina Krause grew to womanhood in that locality and married J. Frederick Becker in 1890. Coming to America in 1896, Mr. and Mrs. Becker settled on a farm in Martin County near Truman, Minn. In 1901 they moved to Grant County and in 1911 came to Mahnomen county to continue the vocation of farming in Lagard township until 1914 when they retired and moved to the village of Waubun, which has since been their home. Mrs. Becker was a member of the Waubun Congregational Church and Ladies Aid, taking part in the work of the church as long as her health permitted. She was cheerful at all times. Even during her long illness it was a pleasure to visit with her as she was uncomplaining and always so grateful for the little favors her friends enjoyed doing for her. Mrs. Becker was lovingly cared for by members of her family. A daughter, Mrs. Olson of California, left her home to care for her for five months. When she left after Christmas Mrs. Becker was moved to the Herby home where everything that heart and hand could do was made to make her last days happy and comfortable. All members of the family had been home at different times during her illness and everyday brought some token of the thoughtfulness and love. Surviving are five daughters: Mrs. Ole Olson (Emma), Chula Vista, Calif.; Mrs. Bert Ellsworth (Bertha), Detroit Lakes; Mrs. Chris Herby (Clara), Waubun; Mrs. John Vadnais (Freda), Munsing, Mich.; and Erna of Morrison, Illinois; two sons: Carl H. Becker, Minneapolis, and Evalt H., International Falls. Also 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, who passed away March 14, 1945, a daughter, Mrs. E. G. Ekvall (Mary) who died in 1924 and two sons and a daughter who died in infancy. Submetter's Note: My great grandparents emigrated from Germany in 1896. They settled on a farm in Martin county, near Truman. In 1901 they moved to Grant County and moved to Mahnohmen in 1911. They were farmers, retiring in 1914 in Waubun. Johann Frederick (Fred) Becker, born Jan 5, 1861 and died in March 14, 1945. Augusta Krause Becker (above), born in Germany in Jan 7, 1868 and died April, 1948.
