His age being 70 years. The cause of death was dropsy. Mr, Schantzen was born at Freeburg,Houston county Minnesota, Nov 2 1855. He came to Red River Valley in early 1880's to engage in farming. In 1883 at Crookston, Minn he was married to Magdalena Lenhart whom died a year or two ago. He came to Marshall County 36 years ago settling on a farm in town of Comstock which has been his home ever since. The surviving children area as follows: Mrs. Fred Monroe, Mrs. Dave Ostlund Mineapolis, Mrs, K. Hunstad Thief River Falls, Mrs. Wm Zblewski, Joseph Schantzen, Milton Schantzen and Melvin Schantzen Minneapolis. Mr. Schantzen was a progressive farmer and during his long residence in town of Comstock built up a fine and valuable farm. The old pioneer has now found rest from his labor. He belonged to the Modern Woodmen lodge and was a member of the Catholic Church. Funeral services were held at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Warren on Monday. Rev. Father Joseph J Mulvey officiating and interment was made in Argyle Catholic Cememtery.
